PLANT INDUSTRIES - GYPSY MOTH

Gypsy Moth

Plant Industries provides survey and suppression related services to the public for gypsy moth infested woodlots in their area. The Delaware Gypsy Moth Newsletter, prepared information packets, and public meetings are used to educate and inform the public about the program. This is a cooperative cost-share program between DDA, the USDA Forest Service, and the affected landowners (Title 3 Chapter 11 §1102 - Plant Pests Law). Landowners must apply each year by September 15 to have their wooded area surveyed for gypsy moth. Qualified areas may be eligible for aerial treatment of insecticides in the spring. Public meetings are held each year in late August and again in February.
