Delaware Farm to School Program
The Delaware Farm to School Program link farmers' fruits and vegetables directly to school breakfast, lunch, and snack programs. The Advisory Board (Board) that promotes healthy eating and nutrition awareness in Delaware needs feedback from Delaware farmers. The Board has created a survey (see attached) for farmers to indicate their awareness of and interest in farm-to-school opportunities in Delaware.
The survey is available at the Delaware Department of Agriculture Marketing booth during the 2011 Ag Week (January 19 – 22) at the State Fairgrounds in Harrington and/or on-line at www.dda.delaware.gov (look under Hot Topics). The completed survey is due on January 26, 2011 and may be returned by: Bringing it to the Delaware Department of Agriculture Marketing booth during Ag Week at the State Fairgrounds in Harrington; Mailing it to the Delaware Farm-to-School Collaborative, P.O. Box 4582, Wilmington, DE 19807.
Ed Kee, Delaware Secretary of Agriculture said, “I am thanking our farmers in advance for completing this survey. Their time is valuable, but their input is vital to assist us as we move forward to promote healthy eating and nutrition awareness in Delaware schools and across the State. We want to hear about their experiences to date. Information will be kept confidential and will not be identified by name or operation.”
